Kay Furse – Hospice Nurse

kay1

Kay is a hospice nurse who approaches all she cares for with “presence and seeing”. In caring for those who are
transitioning she has found that knowing them, seeing them – down on their level, looking in their eyes, and listening – can be so profound. Whether they can speak or not, listening to their breath, their heart and their essence is her favorite thing about what she does. She wants those she is caring for to feel loved, to feel whole and to connect with their essence. “I want them to know I am honored that they have allowed me into their lives, that I feel honored to care for them and their loved ones. I hold it sacred.”

Kay loves the concentrated centering that she does as a hospice nurse because it slows the pace of life and requires deep breath and presence-ing of body and mind. Because the patients she works with are often in pain or their mind has slowed she is very aware of pace. She becomes very aware of her own body and pace and allows her essence to connect with theirs. “It is a profoundly deep experience for me.”  Kay also has a unique ability connect to people in most any situation, and comfort those who are under stress, and/or mourning. She has had many life experiences which have turned into wonderful gifts of seeing, understanding, and giving.

My genius is that I am a medical intuitive. I have amazing vision and can see and read people – physically and emotionally. I can see into their body and read what is taking place. I have the ability to really care for people, to bring them comfort, to listen, to help them transition and transcend. I help caregivers and allow them to open up, express, and receive. I have the ability to be a bridge builder, to open the bridge so relationships can reconnect and mend. I have a very calming, loving presence when caring for my patients. I see their past, present and future; I see all of them and my heart opens in loving them, especially those who can no longer communicate (I hear them). I feel warm energy surge through my body and radiate out my hands when I touch them. I love my job… I love the people I care for…. I love feeling so deeply and seeing them so clearly. I learn and grow every day and have great love and compassion.

Kay cites Mother Theresa as a big influence in her life. She watched movies of her and saw her gazing into the eyes of starving children… “I knew she was “seeing” them and I felt that they knew they were being “seen”.  She was the epitome of love and compassion.” Her own mother has also been a great influence on Kay’s live as “she loved everyone and she taught me to LOVE!!” Her mom would often take her to visit the sick or elderly even though she herself was often sick. Kay also had the opportunity to care for her while she was growing up.

“Every time you smile at someone, it is an action of love, a gift to that person, a beautiful thing.”
“Spread love everywhere you go. Let no one ever come to you without leaving happier.”
-Mother Theresa

Kay currently works for Utah Hospice Specialists. She was a CNA for 5 years and is currently an LPN. She uses Reiki, breath work, visualizations, and energy healing to assist the patients she works with to feel their own connection to Spirit and to feel peace within themselves. She got her first nursing bag at 4 years old and has been practicing ever since!

Hmmm. Your email said you were nervous. Read over your page again and I think you’ll see theres nothing here to be nervous about. After seeing my wife withering away and practically on her deathbed at times over the last 10 months, I feel very qualified to say that if all of our care providers had these attitudes, approaches, and qualities, rather than being jaded and indifferent, that the healing that could take place in such an environment would be astounding.

    Kay,
I’m glad to hear you are doing so well. It sounds like you have found your calling. thank you for giing a bit of love and compassion to the sick and dying. I know that your compassion is greatly appreciated by those whom you serve. I hope you know how much you are loved as well. Sometimes it is easy to forget when we spend so much of our day helping others, but you are loved by your family and friends and most of all by your Heavenly Father. He knows what service you have been to others and he know the sacrifices you make to share the last special moments of those who are passing away. It is a gift that you care so much.
    Love,
    shari

I’m very proud of you, Kay. Although you have worked very hard at this, you knew this was your “genius” and you followed it. Not a lot of us can say that. I’ve seen you care for people – strangers, really – and you truly have a gift. This is a great write-up and having the acknowledgement of your peers is very important. You know that your family is also very, very proud of you and we love you very much.
